Summer 2025 Wrap Up
As the summer is coming to an end, I think it is a good time to reflect on some exciting things that happened!
The first, and biggest thing in terms of my business, is that I got to photograph the Grant County Fair for the second year in a row! I grew up showing livestock, and in doing so, I developed such a passion for that world and lifestyle. When I first started taking pictures for fun as a kid, I quickly incorporated the passion for livestock into that new hobby. I have always loved getting different angles, close up shots, and being creative in capturing my show animals. So, it is only natural that I continue that in the professional space as well.
I am grateful that I have had the opportunity, twice now, to photograph a county fair. Since aging out of the 4H program, I try to find new ways to be involved, and being able to continue to merge two of my biggest passions feels amazing. I hope to be able to expand and maybe get to photograph other local shows as well in the future!
The second thing I want to write about is my vacation! My family and I got to head to a great little city called Grand Marais in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I, of course, took my camera to document the scenery and nature that is up there! We stayed in our camper right on the north shore of the UP, we walked right down a flight of steps and onto the beaches of Lake Superior ( I have now seen 4/5 of the great lakes!) The town itself was so quaint and cozy, I think I could genuinely move there. Every person we encountered was extremely kind and welcoming, the restaurants had the best foods, and the sightseeing was 10/10! We even got to go to Oswald's Bear Ranch and pet a baby bear. That was probably the highlight for me.
We also hiked to Sable Falls, which was stunning! The hike back up was difficult, but it was worth every muscle burn to see a different beach, the falls, and a humungous dune.
The final thing I want to reflect on is this business as a whole. I have a very cool photoshoot coming up with a 4H family in northern Indiana. I am always excited to work with new people and make some incredible memories. This being said, and to be really transparent, this is my only regular photoshoot booked this year. I am always grateful to have someone choose me as their photographer, especially when work is slow. Photography is a hard field to break into and make a full time gig. I am nowhere near making this my full time job, yet, but I intend to one day and I am working all the time to make that dream a reality.
I thought it would be fun to add a blog to this website, if only to put my random thoughts out into the world.
It has been an exciting summer thus far, and as it wraps up over this next month, I am excited to see what other opportunities may arise, not only for my business but in life in general.
I hope that this first post was even a tiny bit entertaining, and I can't wait to make more!
